Listening to: From the Choirgirl Hotel. Not for long, though... it's not really matching my mood quite like I was expecting it too.

Currently Reading: Just barely started Jonathan Lethem's Gun, With Occasional Music. Kind of saving it for the train, as well as a stack of others (both fiction and non). Also, I recently read Laurie Notaro's I Love Everybody (and Other Atrocious Lies): True Tales of a Loudmouth Girl (again) in like two days, and peed myself laughing. Highly recommended. I also devoured The Broke Diaries by Angela Nissel in, like, a mere few days. Laughed until I peed. Also highly recommended.

Wishing: income. Lots of it. Other than that, life's pretty good.

I couldn't be more The current mood of ronkc@diaryland.com at www.imood.com right now.

Just My Luck.

Okay.

So I'm dusting. Finally, I'm doing some house-worky things.

I'm dusting, dusting, dusting.

And the dust sets off my smoke detector. And deafens half my floor. And its all my fault.

So the damn thing won't go off by itself, so I try flipping the little dial, which I'm sure didn't help.

So I call Public Safety.

"SU Public Safety."
"Hi, I was dusting, and it set off my smoke detector."
"Okay. And who is this?"
"This is Chris Ronk in (room number here)."
"Your last name is Rock, and you're in (room number here)?"
"Yes."
"Okay. Thank you."

Okay, so was that conflict resolved, because it sounded to me like they just thanked me and hung up the phone.

So an officer gets off the elevator (which was working, by some devine and miraculous stroke of luck), moseyed down to my room, looked inside, asked if I had my key, and shut the door.

Yeeeeeah. About that... Did you just do anything? Because it looked to me like you just asked if I had my key, and then shut my door.

And it's still deafening me.

Eventually it turned itself off because of someone working some magic downstairs in the control room. Nice.

Yeah, I sure am glad they got all over that, and that my family is still paying gartanuan amounts of money. And that public safety and residential life are completely oblivious to any problems that occur ever.

Apparently, this new fire system is super-sensitive, so dust particles are recognised as smoke.

Buh!

Almost makes me wish I were receiving a facial injection.
